Daniel’s special gift as a teacher is his ability to build vibrant, highly focused and empowered groups. The result of this is actors very often produce their best work.

Working with students

Supporting student actors, directors and writers and helping them develop their skills, confidence and stagecraft always gives me great joy. It’s something I love to do and I continue to look for opportunities to do so.

My pedagogical approach is collaborative, relaxed and empowering. In more practical terms, I teach students by combining methodologies such as Lecoq, Viewpoints, Mike Alfreds teachings, and my own “elastic” theatre practice, alongside in-depth textual analysis and an innovative approach to dialogue that I’ve been developing over years.

At the end of the day, my aim is always to teach skills and tools that my students will be able to use and develop for the rest of their lives and careers.

You made it so simple. My new site is so much faster and easier to work with than my old site.
Other student productions as director include Revolt! Revolt, She said, Revolt again! (Rose Bruford), Widows & 3 Winters (Fourth Monkey), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Oxford School of Drama), The Dragon (East 15), Yerma, Scenes from a Marriage, The Merry Wives of Windsor and Mother Courage (all University of Cumbria).

In terms of writing, I am very keen to be writing new plays for drama schools and/or community theatre projects.

My play Lambs was written in collaboration with and for nine actors doing MFA degrees at Guildford School of Acting and will be performed in early 2024.

If I sound right for your school or project, please get in touch, I’d love to chat.
